Gift of Historic ‘Red Book’.
The Lord Lieutenant of Cumbria, Alexander Scott, has been presented with a copy of the Victoria County History ‘Red Book’ recording the history of parishes in Lonsdale ward – the first red book to be published for communities in the modern county of Cumbria.
This volume was previously launched in September, 2025, at Kirkby Lonsdale, by the Patron of the Cumbria County History Trust, Lord Inglewood, and the then chairman, the late Sir Roland Jackson.
The chairman explained this is the first of a predicted 20 volumes which will eventually cover the parish histories of the entire county of Cumbria.
Pictured with the Lord Lieutenant are Nicola, Lady Jackson (left), and current Cumbria County History chairman Mark Blackett-Ord and CCHT secretary Lorna Mullett (both right).
