The Bound Devil -Background Kirky Stephen

Loki Stone

Kirkby Stephen Church contains a 10th century carved stone block depicting the Norse God Loki, often referred to as The Bound Devil.

Kirkby Stephen Parish Church houses the Loki Stone, a carved stone of the Norse god Loki that is believed to be the base of a cross shaft, and uses Loki as a depiction for the devil.  This 10th century Christian/Pagan crossover piece is one of only two in Europe
