On Saturday 16 May the Regional Heritage Centre, Department of History, hold their final whole day event for the season, Recording the Past – making oral histories in the North West.

A guided walk organised by Morecambe Bay Partnership from Arnside to Milnthorpe led by Adrian Taylor from the Cumbrian Railways Association will take place on Sunday 26th April 2015.

Bookings are now open for the David Starkey lecture on 11 June.  The event, which is hosted by CCHT, is entitled "The Magna Carta 800 Years On", and will take place at the Rheged Centre, near Penrith at 7pm on Thursday 11 June, followed by a buffet supper.  Tickets, price £25 (lecture and supper)

We are pleased to announce that David Starkey has agreed to give a lecture on Magna Carta to CCHT members and visitors at Rheged, nr Penrith, on 11 June 2015. The lecture will be at 7.30pm, and will be priced at £25.  Further details in due course (bookings will be via Rheged)

History Department and School of Law at Lancaster University are jointly hosting the 2015 Iredell Lecture on 6 May.  The topic is ‘Magna Carta and the Victorians’ and the guest speaker is Professor Miles Taylor from York University.

CCHT will be at this year's Campus in the City event on Wednesday 4th March in Lancaster. Organised by the Regional Heritage Centre, the event is designed to showcase the work of heritage organisations in the north west.

On Thursday 26 March the Regional Heritage Centre will be holding a study afternoon at the Friends’ Meeting House in Lancaster, on Recent Work in Rural History in North-West England.

The Regional Heritage Centre at Lancaster University is holding a study day on monastic heritage in North West England on Saturday 1st November.

The Lorton and Derwent Fells Local History Society has provided the Greenwood county maps of Cumberland and Westmorland on their website. The maps were surveyed in 1821-3 at one inch to the mile.
