Today saw the launch of the British Newspaper Library Archive. This ambitious project aims to digitise up to 40 million newspaper pages from the British Library's vast collection over the next 10 years. For a subscription fee,  you can search articles by keyword, name, location, date or title. Cumbrian newspapers already on there include the Westmorland Gazette (1835-67), the Kendal Mercury (1834-63) and the Carlisle Journal (1833-66).
