Drafters' Meeting and Morecambe Bay Partnership Heritage Skills Workshops

On Thursday 8th March sixteen VCH Cumbria volunteers, including some new volunteers, met at the regular drafters' meeting in Penrith. Peter Messenger whose research interests include vernacular architecture and building conservation, in particular, clay buildings, gave a talk exploring aspects of 'The Built Character' section of the revised parish history template illustrated with examples from Cumbria. An update on VCH activities in the county can be found in the latest newsletter.

On Saturday 10th March James Bowen led the first of a series of heritage skills workhops (on palaeography) organised by Morecambe Bay Partnership. Further information including how to book is available online. Later workshops will be exploring the landscape history and place names of the Morecambe Bay area.
